Mumbai: State run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) targets to achieve a 53% rise in its natural gas output with the commencement of new fields at western and eastern coasts. The company anticipates on gaining the output by 100 million standard cubic metres a day by 2017-18.
Briefing further upon the growth targets, ONGC Chairman and Managing Director, Sudhir Vasudeva said, “Natural gas production will rise from about 65 mmscmd to more than 100 mmscmd in 2017-18.”
ONGC further disclosed its western offshore C-Series gas field to be more prolific than its previous performances, wherein the reserves of 30 billion cubic metres have been now upgraded to 130 bcm. The desired output has been gained due to the drilling activities in few eight structures in the C-Series field which has led to increased gas production.
“The field, which presently produces 3 mmscmd will double its production output this year and another 7 mmscmd will be added when the Daman structure kick starts production from its field in 2016,” added Vasudeva.
