Kochi: Petronet has set its pitch ready to commission the Rs4200 crore LNG terminal near Puthvype by March end. “The work of the terminal is almost complete and final testing of some equipment is going on,” said AK Balyan, CEO and Managing Director of Petronet. The terminal involving an annual capacity of 5 million tonne will work only to around 20% of its capacity.
Commenting on the 1,200 MW power plant to be developed at the terminal premises, Balyan added, “A detailed project report would soon be ready following which further decision would be taken.”
The company is also setting up an LNG terminal at Kochi which is the second such facility after Dahej in Gujarat. Moreover, a GAIL pipeline up to Bangalore would be laid in Phase-II, wherein the construction period is estimated to be one year.
